Court of Appeal upholds ruling that ICBC must reimburse police officer for sick bank he used after being injured in a motor vehicle accident.
Mr. Cameron represented E.J., a Vancouver police officer, who was injured after his patrol car was rammed by a suspect in a stolen vehicle. In addition to obtaining E.J. compensation at trial for his injuries which more than doubled ICBC’s best offer, E.J. was also awarded compensation for approximately $10,000 of “sick bank” credits he had used while off work recovering from his injuries.
ICBC appealed the decision regarding the sick bank but the Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal and confirmed that ICBC was required to reimburse E.J. for the loss of his sick bank credits.
